Welcome!

My name is Chris Stanek. I’m a Democrat and running for Mayor of the Taos Ski Valley this November 7, 2023.

Since I’m a fresh face in the Village governance, I want to both introduce myself as well as explain why I’m running for mayor.

As you all will remember, the water situation we experienced last winter was eye-opening to say the least. In learning more about the water issue, it became abundantly clear that the aging village infrastructure is in need of attention and certainly isn’t keeping pace with development – or meeting our expectations as residents.

While I have had no interest in participating in politics, the water issue convinced me that the village could benefit from the skills I’ve developed in my science career. I know how to develop long-term strategic plans, I know how to work with government sponsors to get those plans funded, I know how to work with a diverse set of team members and stakeholders, and finally I know how to implement complex plans.  

I love TSV, and especially our unique community. I’m very excited to work with you to be part of the solution to improve how the Village of Taos Ski Valley functions.
